2019 Memorial Cup Opening Game – Military Jersey

2019-05-17

The Memorial Cup Presented by Kia Theme Jersey Program was created in 2008 and sees the host club wear a special military themed jersey for the opening game of the event.  This season, the Halifax Mooseheads will wear the jersey on Friday, May 17th when they take on the Prince Albert Raiders in the opening game of the 101st edition of the National Championship.

All jerseys are auctioned off on CHL Auctions through chl.ca with all proceeds from this auction going towards supporting the Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund. All donations to the Poppy Fund are placed in trust to be used for the care and benevolent support of Veterans and their dependants.

Our theme jersey auctions have cumulatively generated over $225,000 for Veterans.

Auction Launches – Friday, May 17th @ 7:00PM ET/8:00PM AT

Auction Closes – Monday, May 27th @ 7:00PM ET/8:00PM AT

Jersey Significance

The Theme Jersey was designed by the Halifax Mooseheads in conjunction with the Canadian Hockey League.  The jersey pays tribute to the Nova Scotia Highlanders (NS Highrs) by proudly displaying their hat badge as our front crest. The NS Highrs are one of only two units from the Maritime provinces that took part in the Landing at Normandy on D-Day in 1944 during World War II. This year marks the 75th anniversary of that event.

All proceeds from this auction going towards supporting the Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund. All donations to the Poppy Fund are placed in trust to be used for the care and benevolent support of Veterans and their dependents.
