FORTIER CALLED UP FOR CANADA-RUSSIA FINALE
Halifax Mooseheads forward and QMJHL leading scorer Maxime Fortier has been called up to participate in the CIBC Canada-Russia Series.
Fortier, who has a league-best 35 points this season, will be an injury replacement for Team QMJHL when they face off with Russia in the series finale on Thursday night at Centre Henry-Leonard in Baie-Comeau, QC. The game will be shown live on Sportsnet ONE at 8:00PM AST. Fortier replaces the injured Nicolas Roy of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.
The 18-year-old Fortier was on the QMJHL roster last season and contributed one assist in two games. He has scored 10 goals and 25 assists for the Mooseheads in 2016-17 which puts him on pace to score 113 points.
With a 4-0 shutout win on Tuesday in Chicoutimi the QMJHL handed the Canadian Hockey League it’s 11th series victory in 14 years of the CIBC Canada-Russia Series.
The Mooseheads will travel to Moncton next Friday before returning home to face the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Sunday, November 20th at 2pm.
