Your Halifax Mooseheads are briefly back out on the road tonight to face off with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan before returning for a pair of weekend home games at Scotiabank Centre.
Halifax puts a 13-4-1-0 record on the line against the defending Memorial Cup Champion Titan who’ve struggled to a 4-13-0-1 record so far this season and have just one win in their last 10 games. The Mooseheads are coming off a 1-1-1-0 homestand that saw the team drop a 3-2 overtime decision on Sunday to the 1st place Moncton Wildcats.
You can listen to the game live on News 95.7 and watch for the latest updates and highlights via the Mooseheads Twitter account @HFXMooseheads. Puck drop is 7pm.
The play of the Mooseheads’ special teams has been integral to their success this season. The team is at the top of the league in penalty killing at 85.7 percent and they have also done well with the man advantage. Halifax is 4th in the QMJHL in power play percentage at 26.1%. The Titan are middle of the pack in both categories.
The teams have met just once previously this season when the Mooseheads blanked Bathurst 5-0 at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre on October 14th. Benoit-Olivier Groulx scored twice while Alex Gravel made 30 saves for the shutout.
Titan Goaltender Mark Grametbauer has been excellent in his last two starts which included making 53 saves to help his team steal a 3-2 win over Cape Breton on Saturday. Acadie-Bathurst was drastically out-played by the Screaming Eagles who held a 55-12 advantage in shots but Grametbauer’s performance helped him earn a spot on the QMJHL team of the week.
The Mooseheads play twice at home this weekend vs Cape Breton on Friday (DND Appreciation Night) and against the Titan on Saturday. Both are 7pm start times. Tickets are on sale now at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office, select Superstore Outlets, www.ticketatlantic.com or charge by phone 451-1221.
