Life on the road has become pretty familiar for the Halifax Mooseheads early in the 2018-19 QMJHL season and the results have been favourable for the most part. The Mooseheads (6-2) play game number 9 of 15 prior to the home opener tonight at 7pm against the Sea Dogs (2-5-2) at Harbour Station in Saint John.
The Herd are fresh off an 8-goal outburst in Charlottetown last night in an 8-2 win over the Islanders where Raphael Lavoie had a hat trick and Alex Gravel made 35 saves. Antoine Morand had a 4-point game which included a trio of assists. Jared McIsaac made his return to the lineup after getting hurt at Detroit Red Wings training camp and notched a pair of assists in the win.
Injuries will continue to keep forwards Xavier Parent, Ostap Safin, Joel Bishop, Kyle Petten and Samuel Dube out of the lineup while Gavin Hart was called up prior to Thursday’s game in Charlottetown.
The Sea Dogs are a young and rebuilding team that has won just twice in 9 games this season. The Dogs defeated Cape Breton 5-3 in their last outing on Tuesday night with Anthony Boucher and Yohan Plamondon each scoring twice. 1st overall CHL Import draft pick Maxim Cajkovic has been impressive with 6 points so far.
Tonight’s game can be heard live on News 95.7 with play by play host Garreth MacDonald starting just prior to puck drop at 7pm. The Mooseheads will also visit the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Sunday afternoon at 3pm.
The Mooseheads Home Opener will be held on Saturday October 27th versus the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles at 7pm.
