HISCHIER SHINES AT TOP PROSPECTS GAME
Nico Hischier did not disappoint in his latest chance to show off his skills to a hoard of NHL scouts and general managers. The Mooseheads star rookie showed why he is currently the second ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting with a three-point performance at the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Quebec City.
The 18-year-old Naters, Swizterland native not only played well, but was named the Player of the Game for Team Orr following a 6-4 loss to Team Cherry. Hischier was on the top line with Spokane Chiefs winger Kailer Yamamoto and big Moose Jaw Warriors forward Nikita Popugaev.
“We had good and quick chemistry together so it was pretty cool to play with them,” he said.
His goal came on a breakaway chance as he neatly slid the puck under goalie Ian Scott of the Prince Albert Raiders on his backhand after taking a great saucer pass from Popugaev. Hischier later added an assist on a no-look pass to Yamamoto and picked up another helper on Team Orr’s final goal of the game with 1:50 to go in regulation.
Hischier will now shift his focus back to the Mooseheads as they prepare for two home games later this week against a couple of teams ahead of them in the standings in the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and the Saint John Sea Dogs.
Your Mooseheads host the Titan on Thursday night at 7pm in the final Student Night of the season featuring $9 tickets with valid Student ID and free cover at Cheers and the Dome after the game. The Herd is baring down on the Titan in the standings with just five points now separating the two Maritimes Division teams.
Halifax will also entertain the high-powered Sea Dogs on Friday night at 7pm as fans get a chance to see Canadian World Junior heroes Thomas Chabot and Mathieu Joseph as they lead the red hot Sea Dogs into Scotiabank Centre. Saint John has won five in a row and eight of 10.
Tickets are available now at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office at Scotiabank Centre, select Superstore Outlets, TicketAtlantic.com or by phone at 902-451-1221.
