Mooseheads pick 10th in today’s CHL Import Draft

The Halifax Mooseheads hold the 11th overall selection in Wednesday’s CHL Import Draft that is scheduled to get underway Noon Atlantic time, however with the Sherbrooke Phoenix taking a pass on the fifth pick Halifax is bumped up to 10th overall. General Manager Cam Russell will be looking to add another impact player with Nico Hischier likely to suit up for the New Jersey Devils in the coming season after they made him the first overall pick on Friday night.

Since Hischier was picked in the first round of the NHL Draft that allows the Mooseheads to carry three import players on their roster to start the season until the Devils decide to either keep him on the team or send him back.

Russell has had plenty of success in recent years with his European selections with names like Hischier, Timo Meier and Nikolaj Ehlers headlining the list. Other import players like Martin Frk and Konrad Abeltshauser were key contributors to the 2013 Memorial Cup Championship team in 2013 and have both enjoyed great success in their respective professional careers.
