Halifax Mooseheads rookie Nico Hischier has been named the QMJHL’s third star of the week. The Swiss forward collected seven points in three games which included three goals and four assists. He has been been a weekly star on multiple occasions this season and was also named the first star for the month of November.
Hischier maintained a +2 rating and scored three points in last Tuesday’s come-from-behind shootout victory in Cape Breton. He was recently listed as the second best draft eligible skater in North America by NHL Central Scouting. It’s been an incredible rookie season for Hischier in Halifax. He is now just four point behind teammate Max Fortier and Rimouski’s Tyler Boland for the QMJHL scoring lead with 67 points. Hischier will serve as Captain of Team Orr next Monday night in Quebec City in the annual CHL/NHL Top Prospects game.
The first star of the week went to Shawinigan’s Alexis D’Aoust. The 20-year-old had seven points (three goals, four assists) in just two games and had a +6 rating. Charlottetown goalie Matt Welsh picked up the second star with a pair of victories including his first career shutout.
The Mooseheads are off until Friday night when they open a three-game road trip in Drummondville. The team will also stop in Sherbrooke and Rimouski as they play three-games-in-three days.
