QMJHL Entry Draft Prospect Profiles

The QMJHL Entry Draft on Saturday, June 3rd in Saint John is quickly approaching with your Halifax Mooseheads holding the fourth overall pick. Additionally the team has the 23rd and 41st overall selections giving the Mooseheads a trio of picks in the top 50.

With that in mind is taking a look at some of the top prospects available.

Xavier Simoneau is a very skilled forward with the Gatineau L’Intrepide. He was a linemate of Mooseheads 2016 first overall pick Benoit-Olivier Groulx in ‘15-‘16 when Simoneau played as an under-ager. His point production took a dip in ’16-’17 going from 43 points as a rookie to 28 points. Scouts say he has great hockey IQ and always seems to be in the right place at the right time. He isn’t tall but he’s sturdy at 5-foot-6 and 172 pounds. Simoneau scored three goals and four assists for the champion Quebec White team at the Gatorade Frost Challenge. He also scored twice, including the game-winner, in the gold medal final.
