The QMJHL Entry Draft on Saturday, June 3rd in Saint John is quickly approaching with your Halifax Mooseheads holding the fourth overall pick. Additionally the team has the 23rd and 41st overall selections giving the Mooseheads a trio of picks in the top 50.

With that in mind is taking a look at some of the top prospects available.

When talking about forward Brett Budgell scouts are quick to mention that he is big and strong. The St. John’s, NL native played his Midget hockey in Ontario with the London Jr. Knights where he had superior numbers this season. Budgell was phenomenal with 25 goals and 33 assists for 58 points in 32 games. He played on a line with Ryan Suzuki who was recently selected first overall by the Barrie Colts in the OHL Draft. Budgell’s shot is considered to be pro-caliber and he has all the tools to become a power forward in the QMJHL. He added eight points with Newfoundland in the Gatorade Frost Challenge. The videos below show two of his three goals scored in the tournament.
