Scholastic Player of the Month Award

Mooseheads Alternate Captain Connor Moynihan is the team winner of the Scholastic Player of the Month Award for October. The 20-year-old from Windham, New Hampshire is in his second year at Saint Mary’s University where he studies sociology and anthropology and has maintained an average above 80 percent.

“Connor has really stepped up and is very deserving of this honour. He has worked hard to improve his organization and the results have been impressive,” said Mooseheads Educational Advisor Allie MacDonald.

This initiative’s goal, which was developed by the QMJHL and its member clubs, is to recognize student athletes’ performances both on the ice and at school. The players are selected for their school results, their implication, the school-hockey conciliation, their team spirit and their on-ice performances.

Moynihan previously won the Scholastic Award in December, 2015 when he was a student at Prince Andrew High School in Dartmouth. The fifth year player with the Mooseheads is currently sixth in franchise history in games played with 261 but is only four behind Ali MacEachern for fifth all-time. He has 53 goals and 48 assists in his career since Halifax made him the 92nd overall pick in the 2013 QMJHL Entry Draft.
