The QMJHL announced Mooseheads forward Nikolaj Ehlers as its Second Star of the Week on Monday after the 18-year-old led his team to back-to-back weekend victories at Scotiabank Centre.

Ehlers had a huge effort for the Herd in Saturday’s 8-2 thumping of Rimouski, collecting four points on one goal and three assists while completing the Gordie Howe hat trick when he dropped the gloves with Anthony DeLuca of the Oceanic.

The Denmark native added a goal and an assist in Sunday’s Mooseheads 4-3 win over the rival Moncton Wildcats to give him 30 points on the season. He trails only Timo Meier (32 points) for the team lead.

Quebec Remparts forward Adam Erne took home First Star honours after recording eight points in three games, while Val d’Or forward Anthony Richard was named Third Star with six points in three road games.

Halifax (11-12-2-1) hits the road this week for three games, starting Thursday night in Shawinigan at 8pm Atlantic Standard Time followed by a visit to Rouyn Noranda Saturday at 8pm and finally Val d’Or Sunday afternoon at 5pm.
