The accolades continue to roll in for Mooseheads star forward Nikolaj Ehlers who is having a tremendous sophomore season in the QMJHL.
The Winnipeg Jets prospect was named the first star of the week by the league on Monday after he produced 12 points in three games while maintaining a +8 rating. He was later named the CHL player of the week on Tuesday evening.
Ehlers had five goals and seven assists which included a five-point effort in a 7-4 Mooseheads victory over Acadie-Bathurst on Wednesday at Scotiabank Centre. The 19-year-old added one goal and two assists in a loss to Charlottetown on Friday night and capped off his incredible week with a hat trick and an assist as Halifax fell 5-4 in Cape Breton on Sunday.
The 19-year-old Ehlers now has 94 points in 46 games and sits fourth in league scoring behind Nikita Jevpalovs, Danick Martel and Conor Garland. He is scoring at a rate of 2.04 points per game and has a team best +27 rating.
Charlottetown Islanders forward Daniel Sprong was named second star of the week after scoring 11 points, including six goals in four games.
Chicoutimi Saguenéens goaltender Julio Billia is the third star of the week. He went 2-0 with a goals-against-average of 1.49 and a save percentage of .955.
