The Halifax Mooseheads in partnership with Nova Scotia Power proudly made a large donation to Hockey Nova Scotia on behalf of the Halifax Memorial Cup Legacy Society on Monday morning in support of youth hockey in the province.

$172,688.76 was raised through the Nova Scotia Power sponsored 50/50 draws at the May 16-26th tournament hosted by the Mooseheads. The funds were donated to help assist families that have experienced an event that would otherwise have made continuing to play hockey a financial hardship.

“One of our main objectives as a Host Committee was to create a legacy fund that would benefit youth hockey players in the province,” said Brian Urquhart, Mooseheads President.

Urquhart along with Karen Hutt, President and CEO of Nova Scotia Power made the presentation to Amy Walsh, Executive Director of Hockey Nova Scotia at the event held at Nova Scotia Power’s downtown Halifax office.
