Excellent road effort in Charlottetown

Zachary L’Heureux continued his hot streak and the Mooseheads became the first team to push Charlottetown to a shootout this season despite eventually falling 3-2.

Lukas Cormier was the only player to light the lamp in the five rounds of the shootout as Brady James and Colten Ellis put on impressive goaltending displays at the Eastlink Centre. The Mooseheads’ rookie goalie ended the night with 29 saves while Ellis stopped 26.

Mooseheads forward Zachary L’Heureux scored both goals for the Herd for his 18th and 19th tallies of the season. The NHL draft eligible prospect has 10 points in his last five games and has scored twice in each of his last two contests.

Halifax fought back to tie the game on a pair of occasions as Cedric Desruisseux was able to put the home team up 1-0 and 2-1 as the QMJHL goal scoring leader picked up his 36th & 37th goal.

The Mooseheads had plenty of opportunities on the man advantage and cashed in on one-of-seven chances on the power play while Charlottetown went 0-1 on the power play.

The Easter Sunday battle marked the first of five straight games against the Islanders for the Herd. Halifax’s record slipped to 14-16-5-4. The Islanders have won 15 games in a row and are now 30-4-0-0.

These teams will meet again at the Eastlink Centre at 7pm. The next home game for the Mooseheads is set for Friday, April 9th at 7pm vs Charlottetown. A limited amount of tickets will go on sale Tuesday, April 6th at 11am via
