The Halifax Mooseheads Mooseheads have a new player on the roster as of Monday. 19-year-old Jordan McKenna of Dartmouth, NS has been added as a full-time player and will be in the lineup when the team plays in Drummondville on Wednesday night.
The left winger started the season with the Yarmouth Mariners in the MHL where he is currently second in league scoring with 11 points in 7 games played. McKenna is 5-foot-11 and 176 pounds and was originally drafted by the Mooseheads in the fifth round of the 2016 QMJHL Entry Draft. He was a star player for the Dartmouth Steele Subaru Major Midgets from 2015-17 and participated with the team in the 2016 Telus Cup. He was also named the league’s Most Sportsmanlike Player in 2016. Mckenna scored 72 points in 73 career regular season games in Midget. He played two seasons of Prep school in Connecticut before returning to Yarmouth to start the 2019-20 campaign with the Mariners.
McKenna’s addition will be helpful for the Mooseheads (1-3) who have been forced to play with 11 forwards due to injuries to Jeff Burridge and Cole Foston. He will wear number 15 this season.
In other roster news, forward Landon Miron who was called up on the weekend, has been returned to the Cole Harbour Wolfpack. The Anaheim Ducks have returned forward Benoit-Olivier Groulx to the Moose and he will suit up for the first time during the regular season this week. Goalie Tyler Caseley has been recalled from the Amherst Ramblers to back-up Cole McLaren while Alex Gravel continues to recover from a lower body injury. Halifax leaves on a road trip today that will see the team play games in Drummondville on Wednesday, Chicoutimi on Friday and Baie-Comeau on Saturday.
The next home game at the Scotiabank Centre is Thursday, October 10th versus Saint John at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office, TicketAtlantic.com, select Superstore outlets, the Official Mooseheads Shop in Scotia Square Mall or by phone 902-451-1221
