Marcel Barinka heads to World Junior A Challenge


Halifax Mooseheads forward Marcel Barinka will suit up for the Czech Republic at the upcoming World Junior A Challenge in Dawson Creek, B.C.

The 18-year-old from Prague, CZE left on Monday morning to join his teammates in preparation for the event which runs December 7-15. Barinka will miss the Mooseheads’ final five games prior to the Christmas break. Barinka is in his second season with the Mooseheads and has scored 24 points in 78 career games since the team selected him in the second round, 70th overall, in the 2018 CHL Import Draft.

The Czech Republic will open their schedule at the World Junior A Challenge on Sunday, December 8th versus Russia at 4PM ET. Their round robin games also feature matchups against Canada East, Canada West and the United States.

The Mooseheads are back in action this Friday night at 7pm at home against the Cape Breton Eagles in the first game of a home-and-home series with the provincial rivals. Tickets are on sale now at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office, select Superstore outlets, or charge by phone 902-451-1221.
