Mooseheads gear up for QMJHL Entry Draft

2023-05-25

The offseason has officially arrived for your Halifax Mooseheads following an exciting drive in the QMJHL playoffs that saw the team fall in six games to the Quebec Remparts in the Gilles Courteau Trophy Finals.

The front office will now shift gears to restock the system with future prospects and will enter the annual QMJHL Entry Draft armed with 13 picks. The draft is set to be held on Saturday, June 10th in Sherbrooke, QC as the league will hold the first in-person draft since 2019 in Quebec City. The Mooseheads do not own either a first or second round selection following trades that landed both Alex Doucet and Josh Lawrence.

Final Central Scouting Rankings

Halifax General Manager Cam Russell is due to make his first pick in the third round, 57th overall. The Moncton Wildcats own the first overall pick in the draft after winning the lottery on April 26th. The Cats originally obtained the pick from Val d’Or in 2021 as part of a trade that sent defenceman Jordan Spence to the Foreurs.
