Mooseheads move to state-of-the-art facility

The Halifax Mooseheads Hockey Club is excited to be moving hockey operations to a brand new state-of-the-art facility. The team has made the new Dartmouth 4-Pad its permanent practice home and future site of the Mooseheads Hockey staff offices.

“I’d like to thank the Halifax Regional Municipality for its collaboration and assistance as our hockey team makes the Dartmouth 4-Pad our new practice home. Our players will spend less time commuting and more time practicing, training and studying thanks to our custom-built space, which is in close proximity to where most of our players live and attend school. This truly represents a new era for the Halifax Mooseheads,” said Mooseheads majority owner Bobby Smith.

The team has already begun practicing at the recently opened $43-million facility located on Commodore Drive in Dartmouth and will also have the ability to hold future training camps on site. The Mooseheads will have private locker room facilities featuring a gym, players lounge and a video room complete with theatre seating. Construction on the Mooseheads rooms is expected to be completed later this fall. The 4-Pad houses three NHL-sized ice surfaces as well as an Olympic-sized rink which will be used by many teams and organizations in the community including the nearby Newbridge Academy.

General Manager Cam Russell will have an office in the building along with the coaching staff, equipment manager and athletic therapist. Russell said he’s proud of the space that is being built.

“We are extremely excited to have a practice facility of this caliber for our team to use on a daily basis. The extra space, location and innovative amenities will be incredibly helpful for the development and growth of our hockey players.”

The Mooseheads’ Home Opener is set for Saturday night at Scotiabank Centre at 7pm against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. The Moose continue the home stand on Sunday afternoon at 3pm against the Charlottetown Islanders. Sunday is also Poster Day at the rink with the first 3,000 getting a commemorative Mooseheads calendar poster.
