Three members of your Halifax Mooseheads were listed in the NHL Central Scouting Mid-Season Rankings released on Wednesday. The scouting service produces rankings of North American and International skaters and goalies ahead of the NHL Entry Draft which is set to be held this year from June 7-8 in Montreal, QC.
Defenceman Jake Furlong of Upper Tantallon, NS is the top ranked Mooseheads player, coming in at #53 on the list which predicts him to be a second round draft pick. Furlong has been very steady on the blueline for the Herd in his second season and leads the team in +/- at +14. He has scored two goals and added nine assists for 11 points in 30 games played.
Forward Jordan Dumais of Ile-Bizard, QC holds down the #72 ranked position and is listed as a third round draft pick. Dumais could not have had a better first half of the season with a team-leading 47 points in 30 games. His 16 goals and 31 points have him tied for the second-most points in the QMJHL and he is the only 2004 born player in the top 30 in the scoring race.
Forward Markus Vidicek of Kirkland, QC has developed into a highly skilled two-way player. His defensive skills as a forward have drawn as much attention from scouts as his offensive skills. Vidicek is ranked #98 as a fourth round pick for the NHL Entry Draft. He scored nine goals and added 18 assists for 27 points in 30 games played this season.
