While Justin Barron is currently in Red Deer, AB vying for a spot on Hockey Canada’s roster for the 2021 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, there are two other Mooseheads players to watch out for this holiday season when the tournament gets underway in Edmonton.
Forward Senna Peeters was instrumental in helping Austria get into the U20 event this year after scoring three goals and adding three assists in their Division 1 Group A tournament victory to get promoted to the top division this season. He will begin training camp with Austria on December 6th and will join the team as they leave for Edmonton on December 13th. Peeters has been playing U20 with Rogle BK in Sweden this season where he has seven goals and one assist in six games.
Forward Attilio Biasca, Halifax’s top pick in the 2020 CHL Import Draft, has yet to put on a Mooseheads jersey in game action due to the Covid-19 pandemic but is a key player for the team in the future. He was named to Switzerland’s 34-player preliminary roster on Monday. The Swiss camp begins on December 6th with the first cuts expected on December 12th and the final cuts being made on December 23rd. Biasca has been nearly a point per game player in the U20 elit league this season with his hometown team Zug. He has scored five goals and nine assists for 14 points in 15 games.
Barron joined Canada’s camp earlier this month and scored a goal for Team Red in the very first intrasquad game. He has been paired both with Lukas Cormier of the Charlottetown Islanders and Kaiden Guhle of the Prince Albert Raiders.
